Changes to League of Legends team

Gamers2 says farewell to Berk “Gilius” Demir and welcomes Glenn “Hybrid” Doornenbal as its new support. Nubar “Maxlore” Sarafian joins the team on trial.

We would like to address the recent speculation surrounding Gamers2’s League of Legends roster in an open statement. As we mentioned before, when the Summer Challenger Series split started, our goal was clear: to qualify for LCS. Three weeks into the season, we feel that, in order to achieve that goal, a new approach is needed, with some new players.

Today, we bid farewell to our Jungler, Berk “Gilius” Demir, whom we would like to thank for everything he did for Gamers2. Demir is without a doubt one of the best players in his role, and everyone at the club wishes him the best of luck in his future endeavours. We are sure that we will match up against him very soon!

We are delighted to announce that Glenn “Hybrid” Doornenbal, formerly of Copenhagen Wolves Academy, will be our new support player from now on following the departure of Aleksi “Hiiva” Kaikkonen. We believe he has an incredible amount of potential and will surprise a lot of people this season and beyond. Nubar “Maxlore” Sarafian, one of the up-and-coming players in the UK scene, will be manning the jungle for our team on a trial basis.

Below you can find a statement from Gamers2’s team manager, Joe “InnerFlame” Elouassi, about the changes to our LoL roster:

“Many of you will have seen that hiiva steeped down last week, on top of this we are making a roster change in the jungle. It is never easy making changes, especially mid season. Our goal is to qualify for LCS, and whatever we think is best as a club and team to make that happen is the direction we will head in. While gilius is an exceptional player in his own right, we simply feel that there is a lack of synergy between himself and the players in the team. While I am certain he will move on to a team that he fits into with his Playstyle and find success, it’s a shame that gilius won’t be able to do it here. I’d like to thank him for the work ethic that he had while playing under myself. He is very committed and passionate, something that will take him further in his career.

I’d like to take a moment to welcome hybrid to the main roster, he was brilliant last split in CWA’s efforts to make it to lcs and has found instant synergy with the team, both Playstyle and personality. Maxlore hasn’t played a lot with us at this point, so he’ll be trialling this week.

Be sure to watch our games in challenger series and thank you for your ongoing support!”

This week, our team will face Ex Nihilo in the Challenger Series. We hope to see you cheering us on as we look to secure a double victory to get closer and closer to our LCS dream!
