“It is not a sprint, but a marathon.” These words perfectly sum up our Counter-Strike team’s unusual journey in the Esports Championship Series (ECS). Despite a slot start to life in the tournament, with defeats against EnVyUs, Astralis and FaZe, our players simply refused to give up and remained confident about their chances of overcoming a difficult situation.
And the word hard paid off. The team won its last five matches and moved up to second in the table after having the map record advantage over Ninjas in Pyjamas and FaZe Clan, with which it was involved in a three-way tie. This means that Richard “shox” Papillon and company will represent G2.Kinguin at the ECS finals, taking place at the SSE Arena, in London, from June 24th to 26th.
Eight teams – four from Europe and four from North America – will attend the event. The exact prize purse has not yet been revealed, but it will be a big chunk of $3.5 million that will be paid out over the course of the first two seasons.
