Today marks the beginning of a new era in our Counter-Strike team. When we signed the former Titan squad, back in February, it was clear that the bar would be set very high. The players shared our ambition and set themselves the target of fighting for every international title. Sadly, the latest results showed that a change to the line-up was necessary for the team to be able to perform at the highest level and fulfill the undoubted potential within the squad.
After much deep thought and careful consideration, we have decided to part ways with Kevin “Ex6TenZ” Droolans. This decision was not made easily as we know just how important he was to the success of the team over the years, but we feel that moving in a new direction is absolutely crucial. Everyone at G2, but the players in particular, would like to thank Kevin for his unparalleled contribution and wish him the best of luck in the future.
Replacing Droolans on our roster will be Alexandre “bodyy” Pianaro, who joins G2 after a transfer was agreed with LDLC for an undisclosed fee. The 19-year-old is widely regarded as one of the finest young talents in the French Counter-Strike scene, and has displayed an impressive talent for the game and the desire to continue to improve. We strongly believe that, with the injection of new blood and the new leadership system that will be introduced by Richard “shox” Papillon, the team will be able to scale greater heights and solidify its position among the best in the scene.
Jérôme “NiaK” Sudries, the team’s manager, gave the following statement about the changes to the squad:
“Where to start… This adventure with Kévin “Ex6TenZ” Droolans began eight years ago, and this roster change is not a change like any other; Kévin is not a player like any other. Throughout the years, Kévin has devoted both energy and passion into developing our team and elevating our gameplay, while ensuring that all players acquire a winning mentality. We have worked and grown both as colleagues and friends, and stuck together in good times and in bad. It is therefore with a heavy heart that it’s now become time to part ways, but I know this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Kévin and I wish him the best of luck, both as a player and close friend.
“This is a major change for us, but also a major opportunity. With that in mind, I am happy to welcome Alexandre “bodyy” Pianaro to the team. He stood out to us as having that “little bit extra” that only the greatest players have, and we look forward to adding his skillset to our team. As a result of this roster change, Richard “shox” Papillon will inherit the heavy role of team captain, further cementing the beginning of a new era.”
Below you can find a graphic that we have prepared with more information about Pianaro, so you can get to know our newest recruit a little bit better:
Pianaro had this to say about the move to G2:
“It is with a great motivation and desire to win that I join G2 today. I feel incredibly blessed to have been approached by this team, and I will prove that I can live up to their expectations. I want to start by thanking Team LDLC for all they have given me during this past year playing under their colors. I would particularly like to thank my former teammates, without them none of this would be possible and they have all become my good friends. I cannot thank them enough for the opportunity they gave to me two years ago, and I wish them the best for the future.
“I feel that this is unreal, going from the French subtop to one of the best teams in the world. The chance I’ve been given is just incredible, and I want to thank everyone for the confidence they have put in me. I intend to give 2000% to prove my value, to advance and reach the goals of the team, and to together win the most prestigious competitions.”
You will be able to watch Pianaro’s debut for G2 in just a few hours as we will face Gambit Gaming in the qualifiers for the Esports Championship Series (ECS). His first offline appearance for the team will come next week, at DreamHack Masters Malmö, kicking off on Tuesday, April 12th!
