Gamers2 is pleased to announce that it has hired Hughbo “SoulDra” Shim as head coach for its League of Legends team. Shim will be flying in on Monday and will be living with our players inside G2’s gaming house, in Madrid, for the remainder of the Challenger Series as they look to secure promotion to LCS.
Shim is no stranger to G2, having coached our previous LoL team, so we know his quality and what he brings to the table. After working with us, Shim was hired by Gravity Gaming as its head coach for the 2015 Spring LCS, where he showed once again his great decision-making skills in the pick/ban phase.
Here is what Shim had to say about joining Gamers2 as head coach of the LoL team:
“Although I thought I was done with coaching, my excitement for this line-up and what it can achieve convinced me to come out of retirement and join Gamers2 in Spain. Every single one of these players is skilled, but I believe that I am the one that can take them to the next level of game-play. I consider anything less than LCS qualification a failure. I would like to thank Daniel Vorborg, the manager, Ocelote and the rest of Gamers2 for this opportunity. I won’t let our fan base down.”
Team manager Daniel Vorborg also commented on the arrival of Shim, saying:
“We are very pleased to announce the signing of Hughbo “SoulDra” Shim. We’ve already worked with him for a while on a trial basis, but the team and I were not in doubt that we wanted to make him a permanent part of the support staff. He has shown excellent management skills, and the team and him are getting along really well. SouDra has contributed a lot to our overall strategical play but also to our pick and ban phase. In my opinion, you could already see in our games versus dignitas that our team was playing in a more calculated manner, especially in the second game. I cannot wait to see the improvements on the team as we head into the playoffs.”
