Hybrid: “I believe we will get into LCS”

We caught up with our Dutch support player, Glenn “Hybrid” Doornenbal, to know how the team’s preparations for the Challenger Series playoffs are going and what he thinks of his first month at the club.

Glenn “Hybrid” Doornenbal may be one of the newest players in Gamers2’s League of Legends team, but he certainly is no rookie in the Challenger Series. During the Spring Split, he helped Copenhagen Wolves Academy to finish second in the playoffs, but the team’s dream of reaching LCS came to an end soon later as they fell short against ROCCAT in the promotion stage.

Three weeks into the Summer season, the Dutch support joined Gamers2 following the departure of Aleksi “Hiiva” Kaikkonen, and he quickly settled into life in his new team, which would finish the regular season at the top of the table, on an 8-2 record.

With the playoffs just around the corner, we caught up with Doornenbal to know how the team’s preparations are going and what he thinks about his first weeks at the club.

You have been on the team for little over three weeks. How has everything gone so far?

Things have been going pretty well, we are scrimming a lot and preparing ourselves for the match against mousesports.

The team went into the final two weeks of the season sitting third in the Challenger Series and then beat Denial and Dignitas. Did you expect this kind of results so soon,
especially considering that Dignitas were undefeated?

I expected us to beat both teams, even though at the time we had not practised with Kikis yet. I’m really confident in our team and I believe we will get first place in the playoffs and get into LCS next season.

Hybrid confident about Gamers2’s chances of reaching LCS

Shortly after your arrival, Gamers2 signed Kikis for the Jungler position. What do you think that he brings to the table? How big of a help will his LCS experience be?

Kikis is a very good jungler, he always knows what to do and where to apply pressure, and he has good communication with the team. He’s a really nice guy and I think with his LCS experience, we are a really strong team.

You will face Mousesports in the first round of the playoffs. In the regular season, the match between these two teams finished in a 1-1 draw. Are you confident about your chances now?

I have a lot of confidence in our match against Mousesports. They tied with us when we played with our previous roster. I don’t see us losing to them.

Looking at the other two teams in the playoffs, Dignitas and Denial, which one would you prefer to face in a potential final? What is your opinion about them?

Dignitas and Denial are both strong teams. I think I’d prefer to face Dignitas in the finals but I don’t really mind. I don’t expect us to lose to either of those teams.
