G2 continues to make history in Hearthstone! After Thijs “Thijs” Molendijk’s victory at the European Spring Championship, earlier this month, last weekend it was Dima “rdu” Radu’s time to fly our flag high, at DreamHack Summer, one of the most iconic events in esports.
Hundreds of players from all over the world took part in the tournament, which was titled Hearthstone Grand Prix, hoping to get their hands on the lion’s share of a $27,500 prize pool. With a 7-2 score in the Swiss round, Radu was one of the few who made it to the last-16 stage, but the real test only began then.
Radu found himself trailing Kobe “Guukboii” Van Schepdael 0-2 in the Round of 16 but completed a reverse sweep with his Tempo Mage deck, which proved to be a nuisance to many of his opponents throughout the tournament. After that, he took revenge on Geroge “BoarControl” Webb for the Swiss round defeat and beat Frederik “Hoej” Nielsen in a five-game thriller to book his spot in the grand final, against Frank “Fr0zen” Z. Despite not playing his Tempo Mage deck, Radu secured a 3-1 win to claim the title in convincing fashion!

With this victory, Radu has become the only player to have won two DreamHack titles, after he was also crowned champion at the 2014 Summer edition. He has also secured 15 HCT Points, which will certainly go a long way towards fulfilling his goal of playing at the World Championship, for which Thijs has already booked his ticket!
