Our Hearthstone players Thijs “Thijs” Molendijk and Dima “Rdu” Radu have been nominated by GosuGamers for the Best Player of the First Half of 2016 award. They are two of six nominees in each category, with Keaton “Chakki” Gil, Ole “Naiman” Batyrbekov, Jan “SuperJJ” Janssen and Sebastian “Xixo” Bentert completing the list.
Both players have had an oustanding year in terms of individual performances. Thijs won the Curse Trials and followed it up with the gold at the Europe Spring Championship, entering a small group of players who have qualified for back-to-back BlizzCon events.
Dima, meanwhile, made history by becoming the first player to have won two DreamHack titles as he finished first at the Summer event, in Jönköping.
G2 Esports is also named on the shortlist for the best team of the first half of 2016 following the success of our roster, which is completed by Adrian “Lifecoach” Koy.
“The trio, under the stern management of Jakub “Lothar” Szygulski, continues to reap results with no sign of slowing down,” GosuGamers wrote. “Both ThijsNL and Rdu are nominees for Best player in these Awards, which goes to show just how much star power resides behind the samurai head logo.”
