Our Counter-Strike team has received an invitation to compete in the European qualifiers for the inaugural season of the Esports Championship Series (ECS), a new league co-hosted by FACEIT and Twitch. The tournament will comprise 20 teams, 10 from Europe and 10 from North America, who will compete for $3.5 million over two seasons.
The ECS is promising to shake up esports as it will be the very first league to offer co-ownership to the competing teams, like it happens in many sports championships. This means that the teams will get a share of the revenue as well seats on the tournament’s committee.
The qualifier will see our team take on Gambit Gaming in a best-of-five clash for a spot in the ECS. This will be the very first match for our team since picking up Alexandre “bodyy” Pianaro from LDLC, so it will be exciting to see how we will perform!
