We are today announcing that Nathan ‘NBK-’ Schmitt and Dan ‘apEX’ Madesclaire will be leaving G2 Esports following successful negotiations for their transfer. Both players have been stellar members of the CS:GO roster, earning several victories with the team including DreamHack Masters Malmo 2017, ESL Pro League Season 5, and Dreamhack Open Tours 2017. Though the team enjoyed great success together, there were different desired visions for the team that were irreconcilable. Following internal discussions, the decision was made to support NBK– and apEX’s vision for a team during the early part of 2018. This did not meet our expectations however and given the differing visions within the team and the organisation’s own goals and vision, the difficult decision was made to bench NBK- and apEX. Throughout this entire process as we searched for new homes for both players, they continued their superb professionalism, embodying the very best of what we expect from CS:GO and G2 Esports ambassadors.
G2 Esports’ CEO Carlos ‘ocelote’ Rodriguez issued the following statement:
“I truly wish the best to NBK- and apEX for the next part of their CS:GO journey. On a personal level, I love Nathan and Dan and I would have absolutely loved to have the opportunity to spend more time with them. They have been fantastic ambassadors for G2 Esports and the game. The decision to move them to the bench was not an easy one or a reflection of either player’s ability or character. Throughout their time at G2, they proved their ability and strength as players and professionals and I have no doubt they will continue to do so at their new home.”
From everyone at G2 Esports, thank you Nathan and Dan for your time, energy, commitment, and the wonderful memories. We wish you all the best for the future and look forward to facing you again in the server!
