Jakub ‘Lothar’ Szygulski has been an important colleague and friend to G2 Esports since the very beginning. Today, we announce that Lothar will be stepping down from both the Brand Manager and Hearthstone Manager positions and will be devoting his time fully towards streaming. Moving forwards, although his role is changing within our team, he will still remain a key, valued member of the G2 family.
While juggling the responsibilities of the Brand Manager position and being a representative for the club as a Hearthstone player, manager, and commentator, Lothar pushed forward several incredible initiatives, the most known of which is the G2 Samurai. He not only conceived of this project, but has donned the mask and borne the flag for G2 Esports in several campaigns, most notably the EU LCS 2017 Spring Split finals. His work and contribution have helped get us to where we are today and we couldn’t be happier to have his passion, focus and drive representing us as a streamer, brand ambassador, and as the G2 Samurai, which he will continue doing.
Discussing the transition, Lothar said:
”In 2015, I was a full-time streamer, but due to health issues and loads of amazing projects at G2, I had to cut back on broadcasting. Now, in 2018, I’m thrilled to say that I have rekindled an old love and I will return to being a full-time streamer and a competitive player. But not in Hearthstone, this time. I’m back to shooters; the Battle Royale genre has taken my heart by ”Storm”. Yes, you guessed it right – I will be competing in Fortnite! The high skill ceiling and compelling gameplay is very appealing to me and I can’t wait to see how the game will develop its esports side. I’m also very interested in other Battle Royale titles and card games being developed and I will investigate how they will make their way into the scene Thanks for your support and see you guys on the daily 8am streams!”
G2 Esports CEO Carlos ‘ocelote’ Rodriguez added:
“Lothar has played an important role in helping G2 Esports become one of the top esports clubs in the world and I couldn’t be happier that he’ll be continuing to do so as a streamer and ambassador. He not only embodies what we search for in our players, but set the bar and shaped the mould for what we look for and what we expect players to achieve. He will continue to be a shining example in Fortnite and any other Battle Royale title he turns his attention to and I am truly grateful to have him continue his road with us as a player and part of the G2 Family.”
