At the start of the year, we announced the creation of a secondary, Spain-based League of Legends team, sponsored by Vodafone, one of G2’s partners. While putting together this roster, the main goal was to provide talented young players with the conditions to fulfill their potential. After three months, we are thrilled to be able to say that our effort is paying off!
The top six teams from LVP’s Honor Division – the highest tier in Spanish League of Legends – competed in a single-elimination bracket for a spot in the qualifiers for the European Challenger Series. After beating Pain Gaming and Baskonia Esports, G2.Vodafone moved past eMonkeyz 3-1 in the grand final, which means that they will be fighting against other European teams for the chance to enter the Challenger Series. That’s right, the same Challenger Series from which our main League of Legends team qualified for LCS!
Below you can find a graphic with the stats and champion picks from the best-of-five series against eMonkeyz:
The Challenger Series qualifiers will be held online from May 20th to the 27th. SK Gaming and mousesports are the other confirmed teams so far after finishing fifth and sixth in the league’s Spring Split, respectively.
