Week one of European LCS is now behind us, and it was a dream debut for G2 as our players went 2-0! This week, however, the bar will be set higher for the team as we will battle Giants Gaming and H2k Gaming, two veterans in the league.
Prior to the start of the Split, questions were raised about our Korean duo’s ability to thrive in European League of Legends, and they certainly proved their doubters wrong during Week 1! Gang-yun “Trick” Kim finished the week as the Most Valuable Player in Europe on a fantastic 27.0 KDA ratio, while Jin-hyun “Emperor” Kim also raised eyebrows with his great mechanical ability. And with a veteran manning the top lane in the form of Mateusz “Kikis” Szkudlarek and two young talents in the Mid Laner and Support roles, our team is proving that it simply cannot be written off.
Giants Gaming head into week two on the back of two defeats, so they will be desperate to get their first victory against us. In the past, Xpepii’s side has been able to overcome similar situations, so one can definitely expect them to put in an improved performance this week. H2k, on the other hand, boast a 2-0 record and are by far one of the scariest teams in LCS right now. Their impressive display against Origen, one of the favourites heading into the Split, showed that they are definitely title material in the league.
