League of Legends Roster Update

G2 Esports announces the addition of Hampus Mikael ‘promisq’ Abrahamsson to their League of Legends roster as substitute support player.

With our first place playoff position secured in the League of Legends European Championship, we are happy to announce an addition to our League of Legends team to bolster our roster as we head into playoffs. We welcome 25-year-old Swede Hampus Mikael ‘promisq’ Abrahamsson as our second substitute player, filling in the support role and joining Thebaus as the second substitute for the main roster.

As our coach, Fabian ‘GrabbZ’ Lohmann discussed in a recent Twitter post, Mihael ‘Mikyx’ Mehle, our primary support player, has been struggling with chronic wrist injuries that have exacerbated since the beginning of the split. We have done everything we can to support Mikyx including facilitating visits to specialists who have prescribed treatment and rest. As we’ve drawn closer to the end of the split, the team has made a decision to reduce his play in our scrims and remove solo queue play obligations entirely. We are putting all our efforts into Mihael’s recovery and treatment and the addition of promisq is an extension of our efforts.

promisq will remain a member of the roster until May 20th, meaning he will remain with us through playoffs and potentially the Mid-Season Invitational. Our intention is for Mikyx to remain as our primary support player for the rest of the split and for promisq to step in where required. Mikyx is a true competitor and, as such, naturally wants to be involved in our campaign to be the first ever LEC champions. We admire his determination, however, we simultaneously  want to ensure that he is able to prioritise his health with the peace of mind that the team will still be able to perform. As a tenured professional player that has played in the LCS many times, promisq is a welcome addition to our team that we are confident can step up to the Rift, should the need arise in the coming weeks. He has already been scrimming with us these past few weeks and we have made arrangements for him to join us in Berlin and Rotterdam. If you’d like to know more about promisq, be sure to follow him on Twitter and Twitch.

As always, we wish to thank you for your continued support. This has been an incredible first split of the LEC and we are excited to travel to Rotterdam to fight for the LEC Spring Split title! Don’t forget to follow us on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and Twitch.
