After weeks of intense competition, exciting challenges, and hundreds of videos, G2 Esports’ Making The Squad has crowned its Top 4 talent. Chosen from a pool of talented and diverse Top 20 and a fantastic, entertaining Top 8, the Top 4 were the ones who not only did well in the challenges but impressed the judges with their personalities and potential to entertain.
The Top 20 were chosen from hundreds of submissions from across North America and Europe to take part in three online challenges. Highlights of the challenges include building the G2 samurai logo in-game and completing a 360 kill. The judges – G2’s CEO Carlos, G2’s Head of Communication Karina, popular G2 streamer Lothar, and guest judge paysafecard’s VP of Marketing Oliver – had an intense deliberation to pick the Top 8 who were invited to join G2 in Berlin.
In Berlin, the Top 8 were welcomed to the swanky G2 gaming house, decked out with G2 merch, goods from title sponsor paysafecard, Logitech gaming gear, and swag from Esport-Management. Once settled they were shown the G2 ropes, treated to a city tour, and participated in a photoshoot. Their first challenge took them to a
llama alpaca farm to test their duo synergy in a blindfolded challenge, where the pair with the best communication won. Next they had a city challenge, that tested their ability to think outside the box while they searched for clues to reach a secret destination. All the while they practised their Fortnite prowess and showed off on streams for the G2ARMY.
After testing the Top 8’s wits, team work, gaming ability, and most of all their ability to entertain, the judges had the hard task of deciding who would move on to the finals.
G2 Esports CEO and Making The Squad Judge Carlos ‘ocelote’ Rodriguez said of the Top 4,
“The Top 8 contestants all did a great job proving that they are some of the most entertaining and hard-working streamers in Fortnite. It was very hard to pick who would continue on to the Top 4, but in the end we had to choose. We looked for who worked together the best, how they communicated, and who did the best job of representing us and our sponsors. All of our Top 4 are destined for great things and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out.”
