Our Pokémon player, Miguel “Sekiam” Martí, has secured a spot at the game’s biggest annual event, the Pokémon World Championships, scheduled for August 21st through 23rd at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center in Boston, Massachusetts.
Over 100 players from all over the world will be competing in this invitational tournament for a slice of a $51,500 prize pool. Martí, who has established himself as the best player in Spain for several years now, will be looking to build on last year’s sensational top-six finish at the Worlds, now with Gamers2 by his side.
Below you can find a statement from Martí about his goals for the Pokémon World Championships:
“First of all, I would like to thank Gamers2 for trusting me as a competitive Pokémon player. I’m sure this huge club is going to help a lot to show people the reality about what really means to play this game. It’s so hard to maintain a top level year after year in this game, mainly because of the increasing level of the competitive community. After improving my position at the Worlds for two years in a row, I am practicing really hard to go even further this year, because this time I am competing not only for myself, but also for G2. Currently, winning the Worlds is my goal.”
The Pokémon competitive scene may not be the biggest out there, but Martí’s passion and dedication convinced us to embrace this game. We truly believe that he personifies what Gamers2 stands for and that he will fly our club’s colours high at the World Championships.
