Our Vainglory team is currently in Seoul for the second edition of the Vainglory International Premier League, the biggest and most prestigious offline event in Super Evil Megacorp’s MOBA game. Twelve teams from all over the world will compete over the next month on LAN for their share of a $68,000 prize pool.
Sadly, the group draw as not kind to our team, which will have to go up against the runner-up from season 1, Hunters, SK Gaming and Ardent Alliance, but the players are in a fantastic mood and extremely confident going into the tournament.
Below you can find the group draw in full for the tournament:
We caught up with team manager Misa “Face” Kojic, who gave the following statement about the team’s expectations for the Vainglory International Premier League:
“The VIPL is the biggest tournament if we look at the prize pool and the fact that it features teams from different countries. It will be very interesting to see the different play styles, and some players are here for the second time. I am sure there will be some epic matches being played. The tournament is growing, like Vainglory itself, and it will be very interesting to see how teams will handle the draft mode, since it plays a huge part in a team’s strategy. We have played some tournaments with pick and ban and we have practiced this aspect of the game so that we do not get outdrafted. We are trying to improve the synergy between the new combination of players we have for this tournament since Dingo and DarkPotato could not be here. Everyone in our group is a threat, to be honest; we have Hunters, who finished the previous VIPL in second place, SK Gaming, who won the second VGL qualifier, and Ardent, the North American champions.”
