Westballz finishes top 8 at Evo

Weston “Westballz” Dennis finished top 8 at the 2016 edition of the Evolution Championship Series, his first tournament under G2 Esports. Check out our graphic with Weston’s run in Las Vegas and the standings of this spectacular tournament!

We certainly could not be happier with Weston “Westballz” Dennis’ debut for our club! Ahead of the start of Evolution Championship Series (Evo for short), our Super Smash Bros. Melee player had set his sights on a top-eight finish, and he delivered, entering the prize structure after a series of fantastic matches throughout the tournament.

It was no easy task, though. As lights went out at the Las Vegas Convention Center at the end of Day 1, Weston found himself in the Lower Bracket following a defeat against James “Duck” Ma. This meant that another loss would automatically throw him out of Evo.

Fighting for his tournament life, Weston went on a great run, beating six opponents, including big names like Jeffrey “Axe” Williamson, to secure a spot among the top eight finishers.  As we entered the final day, Weston lost out to Johnny “S2J” Kim, spelling the end of  an incredible run, which you can see in more detail below:
